If this is a problem for your rex babies, however, you're in a situation where you have parents that are such a low level that they're honestly not worth breeding.

It can have an inventory full of meat and die of starvation due to the glitch, the food drain rate of a baby giga, and a low food stat all combining at one time. For example, a lower level giga needs constant supervision while it's a baby because of this glitch. This happens on all dinos (tamed, taming, babies, etc.) but is only a serious problem when raising babies with low food. If you don't know what a baby-no-eat glitch is, it's a situation where the AI of dinos will go a significant time without triggering an eat action. The only time nutritional value is important on baby raising is when the babies have such a low food value that a baby-no-eat glitch puts it in serious danger. The reduced nutritional value is a non-issue for this purpose. Fill the rexes further with fish or cooked like I mentioned and you will have more time. But for 1 Rex, 2 troughs should give you at least 10 hours on that first night.

As they mature they will slow down on the eating little by little. The way I look at how much meat they go through is. When it’s out you can have them full of cooked meat or raw fish and then you have a buffer just in case you don’t get back on in time to refill the troughs. Fill the trough with meat, they will eat that first. Also, you can fill their inventory with fish as back up. Rexes need more than one trough if you are going to leave them over night. You select the animal and set the weight of the animal and it will tell you how much it will eat. There are some calculators out there that can help you determine how much meat a growing dino of a specific type will eat, but be cautious because I'm not sure how often they're updated. That will give you 1800 meat that will last MUCH longer. (Last time I checked on official it was something like 5000 from baby to adult) My suggestion is to fill at least 1 full trough with cooked meat (stacks to 30, 80 minute spoil time in trough) before leaving the Rex alone for 8 hours just to be safe.
Rexes eat a butt-ton of food during maturation. Obviously you'll need much more than that if you are growing multiples.or if there are other dinos feeding from the trough. When growing dinos you have to provide enough meat to a juvenile/adolescent for it to eat and factor in how much of that will spoil by the time you log back in. Based on your numbers the juvenile was eating just ran out of food due to consumption and spoilage. If the meat is being eaten, it will disappear much more quickly. Over the course of 8 hours, 300 of your 500 meat will spoil unless it's eaten. If you were away for 8 hours (480 minutes), that allows time for 12 meat per stack to spoil. With vanilla rates, raw meat in a trough spoils at a rate of 1 per 40 minutes. What am I supposed to do to get a juvenile to eat overnight? When I came back the trough had no meat and 50+ spoilt meat in it. I brough it to the feeding trough, filled it up with 300-500 meat and left it for 8 hours.
